One man was arrested and police are still searching for another after both men allegedly shoplifted at Walmart in Hastings.

Hastings Police told NTV News that Justin Lobato, 36, and another man shoplifted Monday afternoon and got into a car and fled. They said the men thought Walmart employees were chasing them, but that wasn't the case.

Police said Lobato eventually left the vehicle, swam across Lake Hastings and continued to flee. They said he ran between houses and jumped on the hood of a moving car.

People nearby called 911 and he was arrested for shoplifting and for not paying court costs in Madison County.

As of Monday evening, police were still looking for the other man involved.
