MCCOOK, Neb. — The City of McCook has taken the precautionary measure of closing Barnett Park due to flooding. Motorists are strongly advised not to drive into the park to ensure their safety.
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for the area until 3:00 p.m.
Authorities urge residents to exercise extreme caution if encountering flooded roads and to refrain from attempting to cross them.
As of the latest update, West 5th Street from E Street to G Street has been closed and marked with cones. Highway 83 is currently closed from Highway 6 & 34 (B Street) to Highway 89.
As of 11:14 am, the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) has indicated that Highway 83 will remain open for the time being, pending any further developments or changes in the situation.
