Nebraska receives millions in Waste Reduction and Recycling Grant Award

    Waste Reduction Services in Central Nebraska received over $500,000 in grants.

    On Thursday, over $2.6 million was awarded across the state.

    The Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality says the grants are used to help with local projects including recycling programs and household hazardous waste collection.

    Among the 30 recipients, Kearney received over $145,000.

    The Grand Island Area Clean Community System received nearly $160,000.

    In the McCook area, Red Willow County received almost $215,000.
