NORTH PLATTE, Neb. -- The Lincoln County Sheriff said more charges will likely be filed after pursuits on Friday.
He said the North Platte Police Department was called to the area of 9th and Jeffers around 11:20 p.m. to check on a woman screaming for help.
According to the sheriff’s office, a man involved fled the scene and failed to stop for police officers, leading them on a chase through North Platte that was discontinued as the man left town on Highway 30.
Later, Lincoln County deputies spotted the vehicle around Platte Valley Road and Range Road, according to the sheriff. He said deputies tried to stop the man, but he kept going, driving on the railroad right of way to Hershey.
Authorities said the chase reached speeds of more than 70 miles per hour.
They said the suspect, Terry Yonker, drove north of Sutherland and turned east on North River Road, where he crashed the vehicle and was arrested.
The 42-year-old did not appear to have injuries, according to the sheriff.
Yonker was arrested for Operating a Motor Vehicle to Avoid Arrest and Willful Reckless Driving and taken to the Lincoln County Detention Center.
