ODESSA, Neb. — Five people were injured in a two-vehicle accident that closed two lanes on Interstate 80 near Odessa on Saturday afternoon.
According to the Nebraska State Patrol, a vehicle that was traveling westbound lost control and crossed the median at 4:09 p.m., hitting an eastbound vehicle at mile marker 265.
Occupants of both vehicles were injured, and five people were taken to two hospitals - Kearney Regional Medical Center and CHI Health Good Samaritan in Kearney.
Emergency responders were seen extricating passengers from an SUV, and CHI Health Good Samaritan flew one person via Air Care to Kearney.
Three people have already been released, and the conditions of the other two are unknown.
A Nebraska State Patrol representative said the eastbound lanes of I-80 were closed between mile markers 257 and 265 for more than an hour, and traffic was being re-routed.
Everyone involved was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
Names have not been released at this time.
