One person injured in Highway 281 crash that closed lanes
GRAND ISLAND, Neb. —
One person is recovering after a two-vehicle crash involving a car and semitrailer truck in Grand Island.
According to the Grand Island Police Department, emergency crews responded to the scene about 9:20 p.m. Saturday on southbound Highway 281 near the truck stop. Police say a 2008 Dodge Caliber, driven by Tyson Tonniges, drove into the back of a 2002 Kenworth truck that was pulling a trailer, driven by Charles Howard. Police said Tonniges was injured and was transported to CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island with unknown injuries. The crash caused a temporary closure on Highway 281's southbound lanes as investigators reconstructed the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
