A trailer carrying a 233,000 lb load broke on Saturday while driving along westbound Highway 34 in Grand Island.
According to Nebraska State Patrol Troop C, the problem caused a travel delay between Stuhr Road and Shady Bend Road. This eventually closed the highway as crews tried to transfer to a different trailer. On Sunday, crane crews began to move the oversize load and this led to traffic being re-routed.
Almost 24 hours later, that section of Highway 34 has finally reopened as of Sunday evening.
