According to Kearney Police, the preliminary investigation showed that the suspected motive for the shooting was a "botched home invasion robbery."

Police responded to a home in Kearney after a man was shot in the head.

The Kearney Police Department told NTV a man was shot in the head Monday around 10:34 p.m. Police responded to the 1900 block of F Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found a 24-year-old Joshua Rose of Kearney with a gunshot wound to the head. Rose was taken to CHI Good Samaritan Hospital with serious injuries.

A 19-year-old male had also been physically assaulted. The 19-year-old refused medical treatment.

The investigation is ongoing.
