A teenager could face a criminal charge after being accused of giving out prescription pills at school.

The Grand Island Police Department said a 15-year-old boy is being referred to the Hall County Attorney for distribution of a controlled substance after they said he was caught giving Alprazolam, a generic form of Xanax, to a female student at Grand Island Senior High on Wednesday.

Officers said they recovered several pills, but there were no reports of students ingesting them or needing medical attention.
