Toddlers taken to hospital after assaults in Grand Island
Two toddlers were taken to the hospital in Grand Island after police said they were assaulted by their father on Wednesday.
The Grand Island Police Department said the father made the call to the hospital, where the boys, ages 2 and 3, were treated for their injuries.
Police said the 2-year-old boy had a CAT scan and X-rays for injuries including scratches and bruising on his face and swelling of his jaw, bruising and scratches on his chest, thigh and knee, as well as teeth marks from being bitten on his right thigh. Police said he also had long, thin marks on his buttocks consistent with something like a belt.
Officers said the 3-year-old boy's injuries weren't as severe, but he had a hand print on the left side of his face and finger marks on his shin.
The father, 22-year-old Alexis Jacobo-Gonzalez, was arrested on suspicion of felony and misdemeanor child abuse.
Police said the mother was interviewed, but doesn't face any charges. The children were left in her custody.
