Trial set for Aubrey Trail in murder case
A man accused in the murder of a Lincoln woman will to go trial next summer.
51-year-old Aubrey Trail was in court on Thursday in Saline County facing charges of first-degree murder and improper disposal of human skeletal remains in the death of 24-year-old Sydney Loofe.
24-year-old Bailey Boswell is also facing the same charges.
Judge Vicky Johnson set Trail's jury trial for June 17, 2019 to July 5, 2019.
His next court date - a status hearing - is set for 2:15 p.m. on Dec. 12.
Prosecutors are seeking the death penalty for Trail, who is accused of strangling Loofe with an extension cord, dismembering her and dumping her remains in a field.
The Nebraska Attorney General's Office said in a filing that 51-year-old Aubrey Trail has a history of assaultive and terrorizing criminal activity, calling the killing of Loofe exceptionally depraved.
