Two in home during fire escape without injury


A fire started in the living room of a home on Highway 30 just after 2 p.m. on Sunday. According to Hershey Fire Chief Toby Tobiasson, crews battled the fire around 30 minutes. Both North Platte Fire Department and Hershey Fire Department responded to the scene.

The fire caused $100,000 in damage to the structure of the house and contents. The house received heat and smoke damage.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

The house is home to a family of four. Two were home at the time of the fire, but they escaped without injury. The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
