LINCOLN, Neb. — The University of Nebraska-Lincoln invited the community to East Campus on Saturday as the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources hosted its first-ever Discovery Days and Farmer's Market.
"We're the food campus," said Mike Boehm, IANR Vice Chancellor. "We think about food, fuel, feed and fiber for a growing world and how we produce that food, fuel, feed and fiber sustainably," said Mike Boehm, thinking about the people who eat that food and produce the food, so to not have a farmer's market. That seemed odd."
Local and university vendors filled the East Campus Mall while museums and different buildings were open to the public. This sparking a great turnout from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"The buzz on campus is real today at UNL," Boehm cheered. "People are showing up all over campus, the Tractor Museum, the Backyard Farmer Garden, the Dinsdale Family Learning Commons, the Dairy Story, everywhere."
IANR will hold two more East Campus Discovery Days on July 10th and August 14th.
