Whiteclay liquor stores closed
Liquor stores in Whiteclay, Nebraska chose not to open their doors Sunday, the last day they could legally make sells.
Their liquor licenses were set to expire at midnight after the Attorney General, Doug Peterson filed an appeal on a judges decision to keep the stores open. The AG superseded the ruling, making the vote by state regulators to not renew the liquor licenses at the 4 stores stand.
On Sunday, activists and tribal leaders made their way to Whiteclay from the Pine Ridge Reservation for a news conference.
Monday is the soonest the court of appeals can bring up the case.
Our own Steve White is headed to Whiteclay. Stay tuned tonight on NTV News.
