A new study shows that adulthood now starts at 24 years old because young people are remaining school longer and delaying marriage and parenthood.

Adolescence is traditionally viewed as the time period between 10 and 19 years, but scientists are arguing that age definition are "arbitrary" and the 10-24 age range is a better fit with the development of adolescents.

These scientists point to the brain continuing its maturation beyond the age of 25 and many people's wisdom teeth not coming through until 25 years old.

The average man enter their first marriage at 32.5 years old and woman 30.6, an increase of eight years since the 1970's according to the study.

Other scientists, however, argue that young people that are unmarried or still in school should still be considered fully-functioning adults.
