WASHINGTON, DC. — U.S. Senator Deb Fischer questioned Mayor Pete Buttigieg, President Joe Biden’s nominee to serve as Secretary of Transportation, during his confirmation hearing and released the following statement:
At his confirmation hearing today, I asked Pete Buttigieg about how the Department of Transportation will improve travel for American families and build infrastructure in our communities under his leadership. We discussed some ‘nuts and bolts’ of his job-enhancing safety, federal regulations, and integrating new technologies into our transportation system. I look forward to voting for his confirmation and working together on bipartisan transportation and infrastructure solutions.
Senator Fischer, who served as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Transportation and Safety from 2015-2020, met virtually with Mayor Buttigieg last week to discuss his nomination and her priorities.
