KENESAW, Neb. — Kenesaw senior Nickolas Kuehn is on a quest for a state championship in wrestling.
“It’s all the work I put in during the summer. I’d wake up at 5:20 a.m. go to weights till 6:00 a.m. go and work a full-time job and do it all over again,” said Kuehn.
His hard work during the offseason paid off as he just won his 150th match of his career setting a record at Kenesaw high school.
“150 wins a is a big accomplishment especially in a class d school just to get that many matches and get the opportunity let alone win that many,” said assistant wrestling coach Ryan Prescott.
“it means everything, ever since I came to this community in sixth grade my life has changed for the better. I love everyone in the community I care about everyone in the community and they love me we’re just all a big family here,” said Kuehn.
Kuehn and Prescott have a special relationship that continues to grow.
“We have a great relationship it’s such a great honor he was a great wrestler when he wrestled in high, I love my coach.
State wrestling begins in Omaha at the CHI Health Center Thursday Feb. 16-18
