A former Northwest distance runner has been making an impact at the college level. She's entering her Junior year, hoping to achieve her third cross country championship

Megan Billington holds the Vikings school record in the mile and 2 mile.

She's preparing for her third year running for the University of South Dakota.

Billington has been a part of the teams back–to–back Summit League championships in XC.

As a Coyote Megan's knocked her 5K time down to just over 17 minutes.

She placed third at the Summit League championships clocking in at 35:02 in the 10K race.

Megan finished top 10 in 21 track meets last season.

But still says her favorite running memory comes from her days as a Viking.

"I think my favorite memory from high school track was my junior year when we won state by one point.," Billington told NTV. "The craziest thing was no matter like what happened like one little thing that was different could have changed the whole outcome of the meet. One specific thing I remember was during the mile, coming around at the 200 I was in 8th place but I ended up getting third. So it's just little things like that at the meet could have changed the whole thing."
