UNK's Squiers set to compete in NCAA Championships

UNK sending 4 athletes to the NCAA Outdoor Championships this week. Kearney native and true freshman Anna Squiers qualifying in the discus throw. Her best toss measuring in at 157 feet and 1 inch, good for 23rd nationally. The former Kearney Catholic product telling us she's grown by leaps and bounds since joining the Loper track team.

" I've improved ten feet since last year in high school," Squiers told NTV. "Every meet I think I've gotten a new PR (personal record) for most meets I have. That's really awesome to see. It's a lot of the training that we do and the coaches."

"She's been consistently better than she was in high school," UNK Throws coach Dane Tobey said. "She's very athletic, has tremendous whip, she sets things up and her arm finishes it."

Anna will compete at 3 pm on Saturday in Charlotte the site of the DII outdoor championships.
