Central Nebraska AAU volleyball team finishes runner-up
ORLANDO, Fla. —
The SWAT team, based out of Lexington, finished runner-up in Orlando, Fla. at the 45th AAU Girls' and Boys' Junior National Volleyball Championships on Wednesday evening.
A collection of talent from the central portion of the state was competing in the 14-under classic division.
The group of seven girls won 26 of 30 sets played over the course of four days and won all 13 matches they participated in prior to the championship, losing to High Voltage 14 Elite (FL), 14-25, 21-25.
Six of the girls, Carlee Stuhmer, Sydney Conner, Emily Garrelts, Brisa Garciavargas, Cordelia Harbison and Taylor Woehrle are all 2022 graduates. Avery Franzen, a 5'10 middle blocker, is slated to graduate in 2024.
The team was coached by Rael Woehrle, while Kris Conner, Scott Franzen and Kenneth Harbison were assistants.
