Drew Powell signs with Iowa Barnstormers

DES MOINES – The Iowa Barnstormers have signed quarterback Drew Powell to the 2018 roster, Head Coach Dixie Wooten announced today. Powell (6-3, 220, Livingstone College) joins the Iowa Barnstormers for his second season in the Indoor Football League (IFL).

Powell made his rookie debut last season with the Sioux Falls Storm, appearing in nine games where he also contributed as wide receiver. Powell spent the later part of the 2017 season with the Nebraska Danger, appearing in the final four games of the season where he completed 57 of 105 passing attempts for 573 yards and six touchdowns. Powell also scored 13 rushing touchdowns. During his time with the Danger, Powell was named the 2017 Week 16 and Week 18 IFL Offensive Player of the Week.

Collegiately, Powell spent four years playing with the Livingstone College Blue Bears. Throughout his time at Livingstone, Powell broke a total of 11 school records (six of which he collected in his freshman year) and four conference records. Powell also earned several accolades including 2012 CIAA Offensive Rookie of the Year, All-Time Leading Passer in Yards, 1st Team All-Conference Quarterback, and All-County Offensive Player of the Year.

"Drew is a huge signing for us. He is a student of the game with a big arm and great athleticism," said Coach Wooten. "Drew is a true leader with a great work ethic, he is willing to work to be great. I'm excited to have him."
