Grand Island stays alive in Class A bracket

Grand Island Senior High bounced back from an opening round loss to Millard South with a dominant 7-2 victory over Elkhorn South at Werner Park this afternoon.

The Islanders got a three–run triple from Shay Schanaman in the bottom of the fourth, part of a four-run inning for Grand Island, who took a 6-1 lead.

Will Nordhues had a pair of RBI and two of the five Grand Island hits, while Gage Rose went the distance for the Islanders, striking out four and limiting the Storm bats to a couple of runs on six hits.

Grand Island awaits Omaha Burke on Tuesday at Fricke Field, 7 p.m.
