Lexington boys upend Kearney
LEXINGTON, Neb. —
Lexington struck twice in the matter of minutes to break open a scoreless game and win, 2-0, over Kearney on Tuesday.
Junior Casillas had a beauty from outside the box in the 64' with a blast off his right foot. What started out wide of the net, Casillas' shot bent back inside the post and found the upper corner for the game winning tally.
Two minutes later, Lexington was awarded a penalty kick and awarded to Lester Perez. Kearney goalie Jacob Hardy saved the first shot, but the rebound went back to Perez and he tapped it home for the 2-0 lead and ultimately the final score.
Kearney had not lost all season, outscoring opponents 13–3 on their way to a 5–0 record with three of those wins against teams above .500. Lexington was 4-2 coming into the match, but had not defeated a team with a record over .500 as of Tuesday.
